BIG WEEKEND IN THE LOWCOUNTRY (Updated Friday morning 3.27.26) Lots of events this weekend, so let’s break it down! We’ll soar through the 80s today under a mainly sunny sky and challenge the record high of 87° (2021) at Charleston International Airport. A dry cold front will move through tonight followed by cooler temperatures, much drier air and a gusty breezy up to 35 mph. With severe to extreme drought conditions in place, a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the Lowcountry Saturday as the risk of wildfire is quite high. Bottom line: NO BURNING! Intense wind energy through a deep layer of the atmosphere along with moderate instability will support an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms across the Lowcountry all day. MID-WEEK WARMING If you’re like me, you’re internally screaming “ENOUGH!!!!” over the colder temperatures. Milder weather returns Wednesday and Thursday, but as I usually warn this time of year, it will come with a price. Today will be sunny and chilly followed by another clear and cold night, although most of the state will remain above freezing.
