Below is the story of the first patient treated with a prime-edited therapeutic, developed by @PrimeMedicine in a trial led by Dr. Élie Haddad and his team at CHU Sainte-Justine. This teenager suffered from chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), an immunodeficiency, and now—10 months after treatment—the patient is healthy, stable, and living with a functioning immune system. Been saying for years that AR+moldynamics could allow us get a "feel" for how a molecule behaves i.e. unlocm a whole new way to understand molecular bio by plugging into the human ability to process tactile information. These guys have built it! Super cool, can't wait to try.

🚨Sen. Chris Murphy just went on CNN and accused @elonmusk of "endorsing a neo-N*zi party” over Elon’s support of German political party AfD. This is an insanely dishonest smear. Murphy went on to fearmonger about the possibility of Trump supporting neo-N*zis: "What we know is that what Elon Musk thinks tends to eventually be what the president of the United States thinks. And if the United States takes an official position in favor of neo-N*zis in Germany. I mean, it is absolutely catastrophic." Democrats also called Trump H*tler and Republicans n*zis for the last four years, to put this outrageous slander into perspective.

On April 8, @nickywhiffin posted a preprint on a new non-coding gene for intellectual disability; 3 days later another group submitted the same thing to @NatureMedicine with less data. It’s just published, no citation to the preprint. I thought genomics was past this grubbiness.

@seldo That's what I do. Typically I only practice a few intro sentences to get going. I do spend a fair bit of time designing each slide and flow though so that by the end, the story tells itself.

Apparently a thing some people routinely do is make a bunch of slides and then just roughly remember what they were going to say in response to each slide without speaker notes, I cannot imagine being able to do that.

That's a wrap on @NVIDIAGTC for me. It was a celebration of the immense potential of AI to empower human thought and capability - nowhere in my view is this potential greater than in its application to biology. The strong representation (and Jensen's support) of #DigitalBiology / #AIxBioMed at GTC speaks to it.  But what's also clear is that too many current efforts here stay entirely in hypothesis-land. There is no way around the hard work of wet-lab experimental validation. Aviv made the case for the lab-in-the-loop like only she can. But let's go further: let's not only have the lab, but the patients themselves in the loop.  If you want to learn more / committed the terrible sin of missing my talk, check out my presentation on Digital Biology for #RareDisease in about a month on the GTC platform (or just dm me 😊).
