Because it garners thousands of views and if you scroll through the comments there's plenty of "it's okay, go do it" shit to say the least. Not to mention DMs, social circles etc encouraging it. I'm older - I've had a few friends get into it and they're still traumatized into their 30s. Had an extended family member get into it hard and they ended up doing themselves in after about a decade of struggling with "I'll never be a real woman". This shit should not be coddled and/or fetishized. Honestly more permanently scarring shit than SH stuff, and I've known people who were so bad into that, they looked like burn victims.
