There this man in my community who swore he would never marry until he found a virgin. He celebrated his 40th birthday in January, still unmarried and still waiting. My neighbour's wife called her husband's mother that he slapped her after they had a fight. This happened yesterday morning so in the evening the gate opened and it was the husband's sisters. He was not around though. One of the sister called him that they are around, so he left whatever he was doing and came home. During that period they didn't say a word to the wife. He came back and in a flash i saw two sisters slap their brother 6 times. I was flabbergasted. The eldest sister told him "don't you ever touch your wife again". She turned and said to the wife "you can see i slapped him back because of you, next time you frustrate him and he touch you, you will go back to Your parents house". And they left.

I will never advise anybody to stay in an apartment where you share prepaid meter with neighbors. Our light finished today, so I told my neighbor to contribute so we could recharge. She said she didn’t have money and she didn’t even need the light. I said no problem and used my own money to subscribe 2K just so I could manage till morning. Later, I wanted to fetch water and noticed the tap was not rushing, I stepped outside only to discover madam has turned on her light, AC working perfectly, enjoying herself comfortably with the same light she claimed she didn’t need. See ehn, it’s not even about the money alone. It’s the mindset. If you know you’ll still use the light, why not contribute from the beginning instead of pretending you’re not interested? Should I go and knock at her door or do I just turn off her light? What would you do if you were me?

Our estate transformer got bad and we stayed without light for almost two weeks. Each house was asked to contribute ₦15,000. During the meeting, people were complaining seriously. One man said, “Where will I see ₦15k when I haven’t even paid my children’s school fees yet?” The whole thing was almost turning into an argument because he asked for more time to pay, but everybody wanted the light restored immediately. Then one fine boy that moved into one of the end houses a few months ago stood up. He looked uninterested in the discussion. He asked, “How much is remaining?” They told him about ₦210,000 because some people had paid while others couldn’t. The guy just brought out his phone, asked for the account number, sent the money and walked back inside before people could even thank him properly. Since that day, he has become the new big man of the street. The amount of attention that man gets now is too much. I felt if he wanted to help like that, he should have done it anonymously.
