Thanks very much to the @MerseyFire crew from Saughall Massie who attended an address in Hoylake this morning to rescue pigeons trapped in netting. An entangled bird was cut free & I released it unharmed. Great result 👏 🕊️

With an unnaturally mild spell due this week, I beg you not to 'tidy' your garden. Remember it's still only February, and the insects that the hedgehogs and baby birds will depend on in the spring are overwintering in larvae stage now. If you disturb them, our hogs and birds die of starvation. What you're seeing as messy dead flower stems and dried old stalks are actually warm cosy cots in a nursery, where this year's baby insects are slumbering, safe from the world and weather extremes. Please, I beg you, tread gently for another month yet.

@HelenDunning19 It sounds like you absolutely did. I know unfortunately in many areas due to work load there are tough decisions being made in terms of priority due to severity of jobs. However environmental issues can be serious and cause suffering. Is it possible to monitor the situation ?

@joynes85 I alerted something to the RSPCA yesterday. Animals in poor and inadequate living conditions. I hope I did the right thing although I was informed that they couldn’t pursue as I’d said the animals looked healthy i.e well fed. The thought of these animals wont leave me though..

Nipped into RSPCA Wirral animal centre today to print some docs and have a ☕ to warm up. Think I made a friend 😺😍
