I’m completely sure this virus is not the end of civilization as we know it. But COVID-19 isn’t a problem we can solve with a pill. And most of the problems the world faces going forward are like viruses: unexpected, slow start, massive scale, and no easy answers.

It’s Monday. Doing my duty and isolating socially. As an infamous introvert this is not a problem for me. But I feel bad for my extrovert friend and family.

I’m glad I got to learn the “backstory” of Paradise Lost and the uncompromising poet who created it. This knowledge, in itself, is almost enough.

Of course, in our today, nobody reads Paradise Lost, of any of these significant works, cover to cover. I can’t. I don’t have the patience or time. Still, I feel I have lost something by not reading it.

“We have so little leisure now that we have invented so many labor-saving devices.” Will & Ariel Durant wrote this line 1963. Seems to have become even more true.
