As the United States approaches its 250th birthday, it is confronting a reality that Alexander Hamilton would have recognized immediately—and that Thomas Nagel helps us name: the so‑called “rules‑based international order” was never a neutral, “view from nowhere” system. It was a political construction, shaped by power, sustained by incentives, and increasingly misaligned with the interests of the country that built it, a fact President Trump’s dismantling of the post‑war order ultimately laid bare.

Samsung numbers not good enough!
Beyond the AI bottleneck
Artificial intelligence is not over. But easy trade in it is.
Samsung’s latest numbers made that plain. Quarterly operating profit surged on AI‑driven memory demand and higher DRAM prices. Analysts still expect shortages into 2027. Yet the shares fell. That is what happens when a bottleneck trade gets crowded: fundamentals stay strong, but earnings stop impressing because perfection was already priced in.
This is the fate of parabolic charts. Semiconductors, memory and AI power were the obvious chokepoints in the first phase of the AI buildout. Capital flooded in. Nvidia led. The SOX soared. Now the leaders are over‑owned and increasingly unable to turn good news into higher prices. The theme may have years left. The trade does not.
The next bottlenecks are likely to be less glamorous: power, grid capacity, cooling and physical infrastructure. Markets are also beginning to price a different rates regime. Kevin Warsh’s Fed looks less Powell‑like, the Iran shock is fading and rate‑sensitive sectors are starting to stir.
The lesson is simple: sell parabolic crowding and buy fear. In this market, that means trimming AI bottlenecks and looking harder at under‑owned domestic cyclicals and Bitcoin.
