In the late medieval period, a princess from Byzantium married into an Italian family, and the Italian royalty were amazed at how elegant she was, "eating her food with small silver forks" instead of just picking it up with her fingers like everyone else did. There were literally no forks at the table in medieval times - just knives and fingers. If you wanted a hunk of the suckling pig, you just reached over and tore off a hunk. Except in Byzantium I guess.

@SandyofCthulhu Best campaign of all time. Exquisite storytelling in an RTS. When I finished I went to the library and checked out every book they had on the mongols. The librarian couldn’t understand why a 14 year old wanted to read a research book on ancient peoples 😂

We had an actual Nahuatl speaker do the voice over for the Aztec civ in Age II: The Conquerors. We wanted an actual Mayan speaker, only to find that there are about 20 different extant Mayan languages. We picked one and so we DO have a real Mayan speaker but no idea if it's one of the Mayan languages that was prominent in 1500 A.D.
