@mcc14339 @fasc1nate I believe so, but it was closed off long before 1964. That was the year my family and I went to the New York World’s Fair and we also went to the Statue of Liberty. We climbed to the crown but they told us we couldn’t go into the arm.

In the 1980s, the crown of the Statue of Liberty was a popular spot for tourists. More brilliant historical photos: bit.ly/3vlLOd6

@AngelaKelley_ @RoyalFamily @HillsCastle Only a literal act of parliament can change that. Barring action by parliament, Camilla was destined to one day become Queen from the moment Charles slipped the ring on her finger.

@RoyalFamily @HillsCastle She's not the Queen she's the queen consort, that is what the late Queen Elizabeth stated and that's where she will stay.

@AngelaKelley_ @RoyalFamily @HillsCastle In addition, Queen Elizabeth’s statement was only a blessing. It carried no force of law. Even if had she wanted to call Camilla “Mickey Mouse”, it wouldn’t have mattered. She had no power to determine titles for a future King’s wife. By law, the wife of the King is The Queen.

@AngelaKelley_ @RoyalFamily @HillsCastle Queen Elizabeth knew that a Queen consort’s title is Her Majesty The Queen (or informally HM Queen (name). In calling the new queen Her Majesty The Queen (or informally, HM Queen Camilla), Elizabeth’s wishes have been precisely followed.

@AngelaKelley_ @RoyalFamily @HillsCastle But Camilla’s style/title is Her Majesty The Queen. Every king’s wife has that style/title. Queen Elizabeth wished that Camilla be queen consort, rather than Princess Consort as had been previously announced. She didn't mean "not Queen".

@AngelaKelley_ @RoyalFamily @HillsCastle I can’t believe it’s been over a year and we STILL have to explain this. Camilla IS the queen consort. That is the descriptive name for the king’s wife. It distinguishes her from a queen regnant such as Queen Elizabeth II.

@MaxTallant22 @RoyalFamily @HillsCastle Oh good grief. It’s time we put an end to the tired “Diana should be queen” trope. She was divorced from Charles 27 years ago. Charles is now seated on the throne next to the woman he CHOSE to be his queen.

@yakalot2 @RoyalFamily Her official title is Her Majesty The Queen. “Queen Camilla” can be used, but is a colloquial form. If someone says that The Queen visited somewhere today, there can be no confusion about who is being discussed, because she is the only Queen currently alive.

@RoyalFamily Would much prefer to hear and read "Queen Camilla". The loss of our beloved, decades-serving Queen is still too raw for her to be replaced in name. Queen Camilla also seems more modern, which is surely what the Monarchy is now aiming for?

@SuperGrizzMama @RoyalFamily Consort is her role, not her title. She is Her Majesty The Queen. And many people are happy she's there. She is a great asset to the king. The UK is lucky to have her.

@deniseangelinas @RoyalFamily Hereditary monarchies do not require that people deserve their positions. They are achieved through being born to it, or being the wife of the heir. That being said, Queen Camilla most certainly does deserve her position. She is, and will continue to be an exemplary Queen.

“Today, to mark the International Day of Older Persons, I know that a veritable flock of dancers has swanned into the Royal Academy of Dance for a series of workshops, talks and presentations, joined online by friends from across the world. As a devoted, if slightly creaky, Silver Swan myself, I very much wanted to send you my warmest wishes for a wonderful day of fellowship and fun, celebrating the huge benefits that ballet has brought to our lives. To borrow a quote…. Keep Dancing!” - Her Majesty The Queen

@_thepaulorubio Princess Alexandra because the Order of Garter Robes are too heavy. Princess Anne because they wanted someone to wear the Order of Thistle robes, and Anne & William are the only ones with that Order.
