The MTO and OPP knew this snow ramp was a factor in the first incident and didn't fix the problem. This could have ended so differently had it been cleared properly.

@billako14 @CityNewsKIT I do agree there are way too many idiot drivers out there as well in this weather. But the severity of what happened on this ramp could have been prevented with proper snow removal.

@jro1087 @CityNewsKIT This winter 🥶 I’ve watch drivers fly by me and end up in huge snow pile ditches, so do we blame the snow here too, all while the drivers were speeding upwards of 100km/h in bad winter conditions…🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️…no we blame the drivers for speeding and being careless.

@billako14 @CityNewsKIT We really don't know the data on the driver's speeds or if they were cut off while driving. But we do know those snow mounds played a factor.

@jro1087 @CityNewsKIT If there was no snow there and the drivers were still going too fast, then still crashed into the guardrail they would have potentially killed other drivers. I say it all the time people are speeding in bad conditions.

@billako14 @CityNewsKIT They would have still crashed, but into the safety barrier which was obstructed. How do we know the drivers weren't cut off by someone? I'm not saying the driving isn't a factor at all, but MTO should be accountable for that snow ramp which enabled the cars to fly over the wall.

@billako14 @CityNewsKIT And after the first car went over, why did they reopen knowing full well the mounds of snow acted as a ramp for the car to have slid up over the rails? Why did they not clear it after the first car? It took a death to clear it out.

@CityNewsKIT These tragic events are created by driver habits. Anyone saying it’s the fault of the city 🏙️ and snow being there needs to understand how much speed it actually takes to fly up and over that level of snow.

@billako14 @CityNewsKIT The guard rails are there for a reason and they were unable to function as the safety measure they are there for. That part is on the province for not clearing the ramp completely. We don't know how the drivers were driving that day but we do know the rails were obstructed.
