What does $XRP stand for? I’ve always assumed the X is for a non-sovereign asset, as is the standard, and the RP stands for Remittance Payment. So XRP is Non-Sovereign Remittance Payment. 🤷‍♂️

@rohangrey Shares or units of such asset would mean the bearer would be due a value of each unit in the basket. Which means, countries could buy or issue such benchmark asset in accordance with its current production/consumption outlook.

@rohangrey So, how do you get to an international monetary system passed only on purchasing power? You institute a global@unit of account which is a reflection of a basket of commonly producible commodities.

@rohangrey When, in reality, international trade conducted in currencies other than the USD is also a proper reflection of purchasing power. Our ability to in perpetuity finance a deficit, allowing us to spend commensurate amounts of dollars, is fundamentally unfair on a global scale.

@rohangrey Other countries experience periods of inflationary or deflationary responses to international trade, called “adjustments” The United States has not experienced a true situation of this kind prior to 1944 — if we were to experience it, it would consist of deflation unparalleled.

@rohangrey Given, the US experiences a privilege in that we can infinitely run a deficit in support of our expenditures. This gives us an unparalleled economic hegemony compared to other countries.

@propelforward @lex_node that's also return on equity market over time -- the study is skewed towards those who had the disposable income for and general access to equity market investment tools

@propelforward hahah, one cannot -- best one can do is perhaps 1.7% on a high-yield online, and even that adds an extra layer of illiquidity. System punishes savers -- steals wealth over time. Systemic negative interest rates will be the downfall of many industries (FIs, insurance, etc.)

@xjelliott Unfortunate part of the situation is the elite is covering up systemic financial issues within our current paradigm which first appeared in 08 and will only get worse — COVID-19 is merely what they will blame it on; though, the problem is the the dollar’s privileged status

How in the hell do the people around Donald Trump keep pretending he is acting in the best interest of the people in our country (or the world, for that matter) when he calls the Coronavirus a hoax? Self-involvement to the expense of everyone else is one thing, but the enablers...

It’s important to design a program with designated #escooter parking spots, negative incentives for not using those spots, and positive incentives for volunteer chargers. With special attention to safety of scooters on our streets & education! #ucabears @CityofConway
