Today I sent an open letter to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, @lisanandy — calling on the Government to pause the implementation of financial risk assessments for bettors until a proper evaluation of the Gambling Commission’s pilot scheme has been published and made available for scrutiny. I am deeply concerned by recent reports which have highlighted the pilot’s apparent lack of transparency and efficacy. Coverage of my letter is in the Guardian: theguardian.com/sport/2026/apr…

I’ve just been given Netflix ( I know I’m late to getting it ) by VirginMedia. The first show I’ve started watching is Breaking Bad ( I know I’m late to watching that too ) My question is should I stick with it as I’m 3 shows in and not sure what all the fuss was about yet?

'Excluding people from the regulated market is the biggest driver of black market gambling' Matt Zarb-Cousin 6th April 2026. FINALLY. Now is the time to make the regulated market viable again and axe all affordability checks that exclude people from the regulated market.
Matt Zarb-Cousin@mattzarb

@VaughanLewis1 Excluding people from the regulated market is the biggest driver of black market gambling. One is through self-exclusion which should be strengthened. The other is through banning winners, which is entirely in the gift of regulated operators to address by behaving like bookmakers

@SteveRyder13 @OddsCheckrTrack @oddschecker A while ago, we spoke about it via DM. Was a few years ago tbf. You tweeted it at the time saying you was settling as 20/1 winner too as thought enough people didn’t read the article only backed the selection based on link. (My X was deactivated so the DMs may have got lost)

why does it matter if James from dragonbet calls ‘the tipster’ a fraud it’s a free world freedom of speech I know the legal team would’ve been threatening James hugely and can only feel for anyone who’s been involved with the man

@OddsCheckrTrack @SteveRyder13 @oddschecker Shame seeing stuff like this. I remember Steve tipped one “without the fav” at 3/1 But the article linked to the outright market at 16/1. If anyone read the article it was clear what Steve was putting up. The horse won and the figures reflected 16/1 winner instead of 3/1 :(

@chrisgambler247 1.5% seems very low. Everyone I know cannot bet with them without restrictions.

1.5% of Flutter active accounts are already restricted. Expect this to get worse when the tax increases make the UK regulated market even more uncompetitive. Operators outside the UK regulated market avoid the costs of tax, levy, harm fee, media rights and affordability checks.
