The wonderful drawing has brought loads of pleasure & comfort to plenty of us who remember Kenny and cherish memories of him. Thanks for that.

@jsndyks @jdfaviz @datavisFriendly @MartiHearst A better etymon would be pictūra/pictor, to more specifically refers to images rather than text (using Latin is also more consistent with "literacy"). The term "picturacy" has been used previously, most notably by James Hefferman in the context of art: scholar.google.com/scholar?q=pict…

I still prefer Robinson’s “graphicacy” as a visual equivalent to numeracy and literacy. “Visual literacy” always seems subservient rather than equivalent. Are they the same thing #IEEEVIS?
