Loom (1990) was neither very difficult nor very long... nor could you get stuck (no dead ends or unwinnable states). Some argue it was actually too short (maybe a slight hint of criticism). But think about what you will, it was definitely unique at the time, introducing a new way to interact with the environment, and had a truly fantastic story.
Usually, successful adventure games got sequels (for example pretty much all early Sierra adventures, Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Legend of Kyrandia...) - however, Loom sadly never did.
Loom 2 was never made primarily because Brian Moriarty (the game's creator and designer) and the rest of the original team moved on to other projects, and no one at Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts felt strongly enough to champion and commit to a sequel.
Moriarty later sketched out ideas for two sequelsm called The Forge (focusing on one protagonist) and The Fold, but there was never a firm plan right after the first game shipped. He has described himself as "too exhausted" after Loom to push forward immediately.
Defintely worth for being made by an indi-team one day. I would like to believe there are still enough fans out there who would support/buy it.
I know I would. Would you?
