@percyishim He was 30 in 1989. By then he had been cofounder of multiple companies, executive, record producer, talent scout, label executive. But didn’t know how interest on a credit card worked……. BS story
English

Simon Cowell shares how he went from owning a Porsche, a house and business to owing the bank over $500,000, selling the car and the house and moving in with his mum and dad at 30.
“All of us were told to buy shares in this company because we were told it was doing really well and the bank manager was forcing me to borrow money”
“I thought everything was going to be just wonderful so I bought a house, I bought a Porsche, I had a gold credit card which no one explained how the interest worked”
“And when it all came crashing down I owed the bank nearly €500,000. I was on paper bankrupt so I moved back in with my mum and dad”

@lily_lna The number of people who are opting out of work pensions or don’t work to have a private pension is a ticking time bomb for us hard workers!
English

There won’t be a state pension by the time I retire.

Young people could swap a year's state pension for £12,500 cash to get on property ladder under new proposal trib.al/Bd9URXu

@moving_charlie @FryRsquared What makes even less sense is SDLT just goes into the governments pot to spend on what they like. It’s what we call the peasant burden
English

"Stamp Duty is stupid" says @FryRsquared as I've been saying for some time.
Now who wants to argue with this Cambridge Maths professor?

@Yoda4ever @JeremyClarkson what would AgBot do in this situation?

@linmeitalks As a good landlord the government need to realise you’re performing a necessary service. It’s a shame, eventually you’ll be forced to sell some of your portfolio and those tenants will either be homeless or have a terrible landlord either company/based abroad

@freddiesayers And no reporting of any job from these Bulgarians? It was previously reported he was a dad. How much are these people costing us, how many of the family are here (given they have different last names….)
English

@freddiesayers Young girls make say theyve been sexually harassed by non English people and a grown male British adult who knows 0, his first response is to tell the world they made it up.
English

The brother and sister in the “Sophie of Dundee” incident have been found guilty of aggressing those young girls. I was overly hasty in expressing scepticism about the narrative as it happened. I’ve deleted the tweet and - yes - lesson learned.

@quibbleUK Suggestion: unnecessary street furniture! Horrid random poles that once served a sign. “New layout ahead” signs for works done decades ago.

@DanNeidle Why would anyone want to buy now unless it’s their forever home? SDLT is a sunk cost, house prices aren’t going up so you won’t earn that money back quickly.
English

@DanNeidle I did what I was suppose to do and bought a tiny first time flat in 2014. Then they intro first time allowance, so I lost out on that. Sold the flat whilst I could but now getting taxed on the proceeds and having to rent.

@Hunter_Weiss Someone add up the amount spent on his ridiculous outfit and ugly rings 😑

@end3of6days9 “I have adhd brain which causes me to think up smart things like cleaning parts of my body when I’m already wet in a shower and putting clothes in a laundry basket”
English

This woman set up her bathroom with systems that actually work with her ADHD brain — and honestly, a lot of these ideas are just smart, period.
She keeps a phone mount in the shower so she can watch a show while she’s in there (because she hates showering otherwise). She also keeps her water flosser, face wash, and even cleaning supplies in the shower so she can knock out a few tasks while she’s already in there.
She also uses a 3-section laundry hamper (dirty colors, dirty whites, and clean clothes she doesn’t feel like putting away yet) so nothing ends up on the floor.
ADHD or not, these are some really practical ideas.
Have you ever set up a system in your home specifically because it works better for how your brain works?
English

@MattChorley Misremembering? You’re clearly reading the quote as you say it wrong from a piece of paper on your lap?!?
English

I owe Nigel Farage an apology.
During last night’s Newsnight we covered the murder of Henry Nowak and the political reaction to the case, including discussing Nigel Farage’s comments about “pure, cold rage”.
However I referred to “white cold rage”. This was a mistake on my part, a misremembering of the quote. It didn’t change the content of the interview but I should have got the quote right. I apologise to Nigel Farage for this.

@MarioNawfal We need a UK judge Judy. Unless you got clean hands don’t try and sue someone else
English

🇬🇧 THE UK IS A JOKE
A Malaysian migrant with ZERO legal right to work illegally managed a UK hotel... then sued when feather pillows triggered her asthma.
She just WON an employment tribunal for race, sex & disability discrimination.
Compensation awarded despite the hotel being fined £10k for hiring illegals.
This country has completely lost its mind.
Illegal workers getting payouts while Brits get screwed. Absolute madness.

@aswren Once worked with a 18ywar old, given a zone Canary Wharf view flat for free +£1000 to “setup”. Apparently had no family, until I heard about the bbq with grandma, sisters, mother……..who all also lived central london……

Having unemployed foreigners and criminals housed in the centre of our capital city at taxpayer expense makes it so vibrant and exciting
David Madden@davidjmadden
A city centre that is only composed of rich people and optimised for "economic productivity" would be completely miserable.
