Most people get insurance from work. But what few understand is that the insurance companies don’t provide insurance for 95 pct of big companies.
The companies self insure
The insurance companies act as middlemen processing claims. Their value is aggregating providers and providing support to patients.
Not meaningless. But not worth the price paid.

No population wide insurance will work in a market where there is no transparency. The games the big insurers play have nothing to do with insurance or wellness. They make approving and paying every claim a battle for providers and sponsors. There is reason providers charge less to cash payers than they do to their largest payers - the payers have significantly higher administrative and implementation costs. Require every contract to be published and the market becomes efficient and care costs drop significantly
