@Fer742 We had a park in Toronto where many great runners trained over the years. There were standard 600, 800, and 1000m loops, all short by a few seconds. We all knew it, but it was nonetheless a huge confidence booster to nail a workout there in “unbelievable” times (also pre-GPS).

Anyone who knows me, knows this is rubbish. There’s no symbolism. I’m just cheap. If I’m paying thirty quid to have a dead tree in my front room I’m at least going to get some firewood out of it twelve months later.

Every Christmas Eve I burn the Christmas tree from the previous year as a symbol of the end of a year and new beginnings. This year’s seemed to burn more fiercely than others... might have been the petrol I soaked it in #Bye2020

@jtlinmtl @kitmtlo Nice. Our post-Sunday-long-run breakfast place was McGill Pizza, which Google tells me still exists. Special was 2 eggs, 2 toast, 2 bacon, 2 OJ for $2.25. We'd each get two breakfasts, and the waitress would yell at us for being greedy. It was a quite a tradition.

When I lived in Montreal 25+ years ago, the restaurants I could afford all offered “pizzaghetti,” which to an impecunious 17yo runner was the definition of heaven. Hadn’t thought of it in years, but my joy in seeing this dinner tonight tells me I’ve changed less than I thought.

@theXCorg @jtlinmtl @Moh_Speed Interesting. Track is my first love and what Moh did was fabulous, but I disagree with a lot of these points. Also, what does Moh “is a good Canadian boy” even mean? I think the voters got it right.
