Slavery is not a unique phenomenon of America, nor the South. All people from all four corners of the World practiced slavery. All 13 States in 1776 had slavery. Slavery existed in the Union during Lincoln’s entire life. The difference is, the South didn’t invade the North.

@The_JoeHova It was an empty war measure that freed no one. Might doesn’t make right. He ushered in the corporate welfare and endless warfare state we live under today, all while killing a million Americans. Winning!

@judgementdaze The emancipation as stated by Lincoln was designed to rob the confederates of their labor force. It worked. He won.

@The_JoeHova There were peaceful methods of ending slavery, and Lincoln’s invasion had nothing to do with slavery. The Radicals only ended slavery after the war to turn freed blacks into a voting bloc.

@judgementdaze By 1860 many I would dare most civilized nations had abolished slavery. We were different. Where other countries paid for the freed property Lincoln just stole it.

@judgementdaze yes, and wrong. just like the wrongs of today we accept, the domination of other humans is evil. I am southern. I think centralized government is evil too. both things can be right at the same time.

@The_JoeHova Slavery was an ancient, inherited institution practiced by all people around the world.

@FisticuffsFella Why not let the South leave? The remaining States could’ve had any progressive policy they wanted with them gone.

If the Black vote wasn't powerful Republicans wouldn't be trying so hard to weaken it.

@TheBonePile Brooks’ caning happened because Sumner was talking shit about Sumner’s cousin’s speech impediment on the House floor, so Preston Brooks beat the shit out of him. Not about slavery. Now, what law, court case, or campaign promise form Lincoln was there to end Southern slavery?

@judgementdaze It was being discussed so much in the legislature that a senator snapped and tried to beat another senator to death over it. This is why secession material like the secession speech made sure to state in no uncertain terms that the Confederacy stood for permanent slavery

@judgementdaze No, they invaded because the South seceded The South seceded because abolition was taking hold The South didn't know, at the time, they would need to disguise this motivation in the future and they spoke about it openly, and also spoke openly about slavery being permanent

@TheBonePile The Lincoln Administration didn’t invade to abolish slavery. Are you in middle school?

@judgementdaze Or just literally get rid of slavery and take out the central pillar disagreement over which armories were raided and senators were caned. "It was really about crypto motivations!" Without slavery those crypto motivations wouldn't have an OBVIOUS cause to rally behind.

@Alfred_tha_Gr8 Well, who elected these clowns? They were either asleep at the wheel or have adopted the progressive stance on Confederate monuments. Nikki Haley?

This tweet was primarily aimed at boomercon Republicans who refused to accept reality. 1860s Republicans were Marxist (Charles Dana) who ushered in the Bismarckian trend of centralization from Europe. The Nazis were also gay socialist who favored centralization.

@BKorndorff Then why is the Confederacy relentlessly demonized even by boomer Republicans?
