🚩 France, the US, Japan, Italy, Bulgaria, Norway, the UK, and Denmark have sent alerts to their citizens, advising to either avoid crowds, shelter in place, or avoid all travel to the area.

🇧🇯 #Benin – Monitoring Map Early this morning, a faction of soldiers announced the removal of President Talon on national TV. Gunfire was reported near Camp Guézo by the French embassy. However, loyalist forces claim the coup was thwarted, and a sweeping operation is underway.

🇳🇴 #Norway updates its travel advisory to 🇬🇼 #GuineaBissau. 🚩 It notes "reports of unrest in Guinea-Bissau, particularly in the capital Bissau" Norwegian citizens are advised to be cautious, and to avoid crowds and demonstrations.

🇨🇦 #Canada updates its travel advisory to 🇬🇼 #GuineaBissau. 🚩 It notes that "a faction of the army seized power and announced the suspension of the electoral process". 🇨🇦 Canadian citizens are advised to shelter in place.

🇯🇵 #Japan's embassy in Senegal, also in charge of 🇬🇼 #GuineaBissau, notes that "multiple gunshots were heard around Guinea-Bissau's presidential palace.". 🚩 It recommends its citizens to avoid the affected area, and reminds that non-essential travel is already advised against.

🇬🇧 The #UnitedKingdom updates its travel advisory to 🇬🇼 #GuineaBissau. 🚩 The FCDO says it "is aware of a gunfire incident" in central Bissau, and recommends to its citizens to limit movements around the city.

🇭🇺 #Hungary updates its travel advisory for 🇬🇼 #GuineaBissau. 🚩 It strongly recommends its citizens to leave the country, and to postpone any travel. This is due to the "political unrest" and "armed violence" which followed today's elections.

🇳🇱 The #Netherlands updates its travel advisory to 🇬🇼 #GuineaBissau. 🚩 It warns of a violent military coup, and that the situation remains tense and unpredictable. Dutch citizens are urged to stay away from gov. buildings, military installations, and crowds. 🗺️ Map unchanged.

🇸🇪 #Sweden updates its travel advisory to 🇬🇼 #GuineaBissau. 🚩 It notes the reports of "unrest" in the country, especially in the capital. It urges Swedes to exercise caution, and to avoid crowds and demonstrations.
