@CepnikMaciej As a Mexican I can tell you that most English speakers who “speak” Spanish, really don’t know how to speak Spanish. They confuse basic words and it is much easier to continue in English. Maybe the person didn’t understand you and preferred to try with their basic English.

@Michellek4040 Agree, this is an inflection point. Many, many trips to Mexico over the years, including my wedding in 2011. This changes so much of that thinking - maybe(!) not as safe-ish as we’ve all thought. Such a shame not only for tourists but those who solely depend on our tourism

I’ve traveled to Mexico for resort vacations for basically the last 10 years with my family. We’ve always felt safe-ish with the understanding that the cartels understood the importance of tourism to their economy and would generally not cause disruption. I think that’s over.
