Hungarian FM admits calling Lavrov after EU meetings Péter Szijjártó did not deny his ties to the Kremlin and confirmed he communicates with Sergey Lavrov even during EU sessions. He had previously been accused of leaking information to Russia. Szijjártó insists he did not pass any classified data, claiming that sensitive issues are “not discussed” at the ministerial level. He also says he regularly contacts officials from other countries because EU decisions affect external relations. “Of course, I usually consult with Russians, Turks, Israelis, as well as representatives of Central Asian and African countries. This is completely natural,” the minister said. The explanation sounds weak. A foreign minister of an EU and NATO country has effectively admitted maintaining direct contact with Moscow. Concerns about leaks have been raised before — according to Donald Tusk, Lithuania already proposed limiting Hungary’s access to closed meetings back in 2019 over fears of information being passed to Russia.

'Meikäläisten' joukkoon on helpoin hukkua.

@xplorable @MikaAaltola Hungary's FM confirmed the story to be true. If you'd actually knew the facts, you'd know it's the Hungarian regime that's the actually fascist one.

Hungary’s Foreign Minister passed intelligence to Lavrov. Let that sink in. A NATO ally. An EU member. Feeding information to Russia waging war on European soil. This is not neutrality. This is not sovereignty. This is betrayal, and it demands consequences, not diplomacy.

@MikaAaltola Read the damned article before you comment. It's all "allegedly," "could/might," "allegedly" etc. No names except Tusk. Straight malarky. Szabi should evaluate the sources he uses so he can back up what he writes. Which 2 diplomatic sources? Ambassadors or janitors?

@M0nstas @wartranslated All that oil would have been burnt anyway, so there's no real difference. If this blocks russia from exporting oil, then it could even be net positive for the environment.

EU cuts Hungary out of sensitive talks over leaking-to-Russia fears, they are limiting the flow of confidential material to Hungary and leaders are meeting in smaller groups. - POLITICO Who is surprised? Nobody.

Let me guess, it was “confirmed” with another source “very familiar with the matter” 🥱 “Sensitive talks” are regulated by bilateral agreements, treaties, and other legal documents — I know that’s a hard word for you — but try to process it. Nothing will be ceased based on a WP article — they need an investigation, hearings, and a decision. This is how a bureaucratic giant works, not by overnight confirmations on X accounts from Kharkiv… suck it up.

@everdaynewdealz @JayinKyiv The loss to russia is bigger than the cost increase to the rest of us. And considering russia was already cut off from most of western markets, this has minimal price impact.

@Osinttechnical How did a Ukrainian drone possibly get to Primorsk? That's 1,000km from Ukraine/Kyiv! Most likely launched from a NATO country - Estonia or Finland - or from a ship.

Finland, together with our close partners, today joined a joint statement regarding the situation in the Persian Gulf and, in particular, the Strait of Hormuz. The statement condemns Iran’s recent attacks on commercial vessels and attempts to disrupt commercial shipping. The statement also calls on all countries to respect international law and uphold the principles of international security. The countries participating in the statement express their readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait. presidentti.fi/joint-statemen…
