@kalpeshmak16 I think by dangling water issue (now that the treaty is in abeyance) BJP can swing votes. Never know, all cracks till date had been non-lenear yet, so expect on those lines.

@julyone_modi There are theories and I have mine. Every one cracks once the threat or a perceived threat from others cross a threshold. Don't see it happening in PB anytime soon. But in sports, politics and mkts, never say never !!

@julyone_modi Cracking PB (if it were to happen ever, I don't think they can) would be a much bigger win than any other. Also, imp. as the border state !!

@VJsapps @julyone_modi One can't wrong with BAPS. Shreeji has much wider Gujarati menu, Jagdish is relatively new place tastefully done, skews towards street food and serves select PB/hakka too. Poppadum Burlington does spicy MH misal and vadapao the best. Not an either/or choice, try all, 😀 !!

@JonFlynnREstats Lately the pricing of Costco and Petro Canada is not much apart. Definitely not worth staying in the queue.

@kalpeshmak16 Now I believe there is much more room in terms of tax cuts to manage the final costing on pump to remain same. Earlier the exchequer was paying in terms of subsidy which the current government does not need.

@kalpeshmak16 @TheophanesRex @macleans This is largely due to the previous cohort had it bit easy when it gets to getting PR. That raised the expectation of latter cohorts coupled with greed of local administration that unchecked the balance of numbers.

@TheophanesRex @macleans Darshan, know so many Indian families that move on temp profiles worldwide and they all know the risk. The story here isn't about that. Somewhere Aus and CAN messed up on temps so bad that only those temps moving to these two locations behave entitled to permanent status later !!

“We paid Canadian taxes, opened bank accounts, signed multi-year leases and made friends. But it all amounted to disappointment and heartache. The federal government was tightening the system and cutting permanent residency spots. And we had to leave.” macleans.ca/longforms/almo…

The federal government has provided funding for the Region of Durham to purchase what was once a Comfort Inn, located at 533 Kingston Road in Pickering. This will be used as a dedicated space providing temporary housing for asylum claimants in Durham Region.

@niccruzpatane Not everyone has a home charger/ability to put one. Relying on public charger is dangerous, for a place that has 6 months of cold climate.

If you live in Ontario, Canada it honestly doesn’t make sense to drive anything else but an EV. It should be the only vehicle you should be considering right now. With the Ultra-Low Overnight plan you can charge for just $0.039 (CDN) per kWh before taxes and delivery. Besides using Solar, this is one of the cheapest electricity rates in the entire world. Charging an EV at home would be practically free compared to filling up gas in a comparable vehicle.

@RishiKBakshi You think so? Just implement a law that no assignment will be allowed and buyes will have to close or forfeit deposit. See how many will cancel in the cooling off period!!

@julyone_modi Too many failed assignments for people to be that reckless. As well, the pre-approval requirement is physical. Needs to be official. Imagine being the mortgage broker willing to take the risk and blame for a false pre-approval. Not as common as you think today.

Completely sold out. Why? 3000+ sqft detached homes and entry level towns with 1400sqft starting at $700k. Average neighbourhood HH incomes at $271k. Entry level was 3x local income. Detached was about 4.5-5x local income. If you're focused on aggregates you're missing the point.

@RishiKBakshi Well, mortgages were approved at 5x or more as well. Trick remains same unless cra verification is enabled. Also, many want to book as upfront cost is 10k and assignment is free. Imagine if you get someone willing to pay 30k for your allocation.

@julyone_modi Pre-approval was needed with each application. Is it really surprising when you consider the entry level units were sold at 3x income?

@david_parker It's median. So half of population is earning less than that figure. That is roughly 20 million. How they survive, go figure.

The median income for a Canadian is $42,600 CAD a year. I have absolutely no clue how a person survives in the modern world on this kind of income. It is incomprehensible to me.

We need advice: Our adult son just asked for help with a down payment on a house for his wife & children Nobody helped us - we bought a starter home & worked hard Our son often has a Starbucks coffee when he visits with our grandkids Why should we reward this behaviour?

I hated the ICICI NRO/NRE banking experience so much that I closed my account today. I already knew Indian banking isn’t great, but I assumed a top bank like ICICI would be manageable. I was wrong. The experience was terrible. I don’t understand how people regularly use these accounts. - The app fails to work most of the time. - ICICI representatives sometimes call me in the middle of the night just to check if everything's okay. - They ask me to redo KYC every year. That’s fine, but the process is outdated. I had to download forms, fill them manually, sign with ink, print documents, and attest everything. It feels like 2015. - I get account closure warnings every six months if I don’t use it. This might make sense for regular accounts, but not for NRE accounts. I live in the US and don’t use it often. These limits shouldn’t apply as long as there’s sufficient balance. To keep it active, I had to make a ₹1 transaction. Since the app doesn’t work, I had to log in through the website. - Until recently, they didn’t allow password manager autofill. I had to manually type a 14-character random password every time. There are many more issues I’m probably forgetting. Overall, a very frustrating experience. If you had good experience with any others Indian banks with NRE/NRO accounts please let me know.
