@junelikesfs i’m an adult skater and last year i got a warning to not wear a makeup too dramatic anymore, because judges will give me lower marks for presentation 🫠 i had a bunch of crystals on my face

@junelikesfs They're bananas over here, but some of the wording is similar if not the same as the ISU, so I'd assume the rules related to make up would be on the same level. It also happens in artistic gymnastics. A Dutch gymnast was penalised way back then for having tiger like make up

@junelikesfs i know for showcase performances (which are judged differently) people sometimes go all out with costumes and makeup though because it’s encouraged there. showcase is really cool and a great creative outlet to do stuff we can’t always do in normal competition.

@junelikesfs i cant speak for other skaters but from my own experience i sweat like crazy when im doing my programs so id look terrifying by the end of it if i did dramatic makeup. it also just doesnt always look good on the ice, it makes makeup look different and more costume-y than off ice.

@junelikesfs I talk from my own experience with the world skate fed (artistic roller skating). There are some specific and harsher rules costume wise for it than for ice skating. But they have a bullet point of paintinh the body. So it extends to threatical make up.
