South Korea just unveiled plans for a solar plant the size of 4,600 soccer fields.
In the Seoul metropolitan area.
One day earlier, its own climate minister warned about Chinese panels.
On April 22, Hankyung reported the Lee Jae-myung government plans a 3-gigawatt solar site on Siwha and Hwaong reclaimed land in Gyeonggi Province.
Officials call it equal to two nuclear reactors.
That number is misleading. Korea's solar is 18% of power capacity but just 6% of actual electricity.
Now the supply chain.
On April 21, Climate Minister Kim Sung-hwan told reporters: "If Korea also collapses, the global solar market will become China's single market."
China makes 86% of the world's solar modules.
Korea's own figures are worse.
Hankyung's own May 2025 investigation found Korea's solar inverter market is 95% Chinese, calling it a hole in national energy security.
98% of modules imported in 2024 were Chinese.
74% of cells installed in 2023 were Chinese.
95% of inverters are Chinese.
Hong Jong-ho of Seoul National University told Hankyung: "Even if they secure large sites, if permits take years, the goal could end up as empty talk."
Zoom out.
Korea's solar market is already 80 to 98% Chinese.
Lee Jae-myung plans to nearly triple capacity in three years.
Japan is moving the other way. Prime Minister Takaichi is restricting big solar projects.
Seoul is racing into a reliance its own minister called a warning sign.

Under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the Chinese people are suffering immensely, with countless lives in despair. Millions are now homeless, sleeping rough on streets, under bridges, and in parks across major cities. Shockingly, recent estimates indicate that China’s homeless population has surged to around 24–50 million — a more than fivefold increase since 2020 — with over 60% being young people under the age of 33.5. These are not just the elderly or traditional vagrants, but a growing wave of young graduates, laid-off workers, and migrant laborers crushed by sky-high youth unemployment (still hovering near 17% officially, with real figures likely higher), stagnant wages, unaffordable urban housing, and a collapsing job market amid economic decline. While the CCP boasts of “prosperity” and “common prosperity,” reality tells a different story: young people who once dreamed of a better future are now forced to “lie flat,” deliver food on scooters, or huddle on sidewalks just to survive. The regime’s policies — from zero-COVID fallout to crackdowns on private enterprise and massive debt — have left an entire generation without hope or shelter. This is the true face of life under CCP rule: 民不聊生 (the people have no means to live). The propaganda cannot hide the human cost any longer. The world needs to see the suffering of China’s youth and the failure of authoritarian control.
