Arsenal need both Adam Wharton and Mateus Fernandes. Wharton is a specialist, a pure passer who can operate as a DM/CM hybrid. One of football’s dying breeds. He’s arguably one of the most progressive passers in Europe right now. Like Trent Alexander-Arnold, he can unlock compact structures from deep, from multiple zones, with a single pass. Mateus Fernandes profiles as a generalist CM/DM hybrid with high technical ability, football IQ, tight-space dribbling, press resistance, passing range, and physical robustness despite being diminutive in stature, slightly N’golo Kanté-like in that sense. He’s an all-action midfielder. This is where the conundrum lies: Arsenal already have the best generalist midfielder in the world in Declan Rice, and they’ve finally found their specialist ball-progressor and press-resistant midfielder to complement Rice in Myles Lewis-Skelly. But they still need one more specialist and one more generalist. Martín Zubimendi has taken the second generalist role, he profiles more as a generalist than a specialist due to his limited technical ability on the ball, and right now, he’s a low-quality one. Arsenal have one more midfield spot left for a specialist to compete with MLS, but they also need to upgrade that second generalist role with a higher-quality midfielder. Right now, Arsenal need both Wharton and Mateus Fernandes to fully complete their midfield. To make that happen, they need to sell the low-quality generalist in Zubimendi and replace him with a new specialist and a higher-level generalist in Wharton and Fernandes.

Il est trop fort

#AFC | Matheus Fernandes is a jack of all trades type of guy. If i’m being honest i see him as an Ødegaard alternative/replacement- a Better dueller and can defend in a pivot much better. Fernandes also has good ball striking + final 3rd impact potential. He’s a £50M player.

⚠️PREMIER LEAGUE PARADOX Arsenal is currently the only thing standing between Manchester City and another year of total dominance fueled by a massive financial war chest. Everyone complains about City using their "financial cheat code" to monopolize the trophy cabinet, but an Arsenal title win is actually a scarier prospect for the rest of the league. Why? Because if Arsenal wins, it strips away every excuse. Arsenal will prove that you don't need a state-funded bank account to win, you just need a better plan. For fans of United, Chelsea, or Liverpool, admitting Arsenal is simply better run is a much tougher pill to swallow than just blaming City's wallet. City spending from 2025–2026: ●January 2025: Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush, Nico González, Vitor Reis ●Summer 2025: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli, James Trafford, Sverre Nypan ●January 2026: Marc Guéhi, Antoine Semenyo Suming about £500 million on just 13 players in just over a year. It’s a "lesser of two evils" situation for rival fans. They’ll watch City spend half a billion pounds in twelve months and still root for them, because as long as the "oil money" wins, everyone else can pretend their own club's failure was inevitable. If the Gunners lift the trophy, that illusion finally shatters. ARSENAL WILL SAVE EPL THIS SEASON FROM 115 CHARGES.

See how Crystal Palace are playing Mancity like it’s just a friendly match. But when it’s Arsenal, suddenly teams start playing like their lives depend on it. Anyways, thank God for the bravery of Everton. Proper club, proper fans, respect to the Evertonians 🙌

Spending 64 million pounds to bring in Gyokeres was an absolute masterclass from the board. He went through a drought but bounced back to drag us to the finish line. That is the exact definition of elite character.
