The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has charged businessman Joseph Kairo Wambui, known publicly as Khalif Kairo, and his company Kai & Karo Limited at the Nyeri Law Courts for tax fraud amounting to Ksh 1,283,830.
Investigators say Kairo, as the firm’s director, deliberately misdeclared a Land Rover Range Rover Vogue as a used Range Rover Sport on January 10, 2024, in an attempt to avoid full customs duty.
He pleaded not guilty and was released on a Ksh 500,000 bond.
The matter will be mentioned on June 4, 2025.
