Earlier today, Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel convened a high-level meeting with Hon. Peter Guzulu Maze, Chief Administrator of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, and other senior regional officials. The leaders held strategic discussions on enhancing security and accelerating economic development through responsible mining activities. The Vice President stressed the urgency of aligning local mining activities with guidelines from the National Ministry of Mining, ensuring that operations are conducted lawfully, transparently, and strategically to serve national interests. By leveraging the region's abundant mineral resources, the partnership will also ignite economic transformation, improve livelihoods, and create enduring prosperity for local communities. Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel reassured the Chief Administrator that the government will create a favourable environment for sustainable investment in the region. The investments will prioritize mutual benefit, long-term sustainability, and meaningful community engagement for maximum impact. Additionally, the Vice President called for peace and stability along the borders between the Bor and Pibor communities. He advised Hon. Guzulu to closely collaborate with Jonglei State Governor, Hon. Riek Gai Kok, to foster harmony and trust between the communities and unlock new avenues for inclusive economic opportunities. This meeting marks a decisive step forward for GPAA and Jonglei State as the Government intensifies efforts to ensure that peace thrives, communities prosper, and the dreams of our people are realized.
