@photrodgraphyd Woahhhh the rush of nostalgia that almost suffocated me just now

@axaxoxaxaxa @takataka_land What a nonsensical last sentence 🤔🤣

@TraceGray25314 @PpIepP4z3EDB5vx @takataka_land Ahh yes, let’s continue to repeat history in cycles of ever more convoluted rearrangements and distorted reflections of each other’s past

@PpIepP4z3EDB5vx @takataka_land Turkey still maintains a sizeable Christian population. Even Iran, the big bad baddie of this year’s fairytale, legally and morally respect their small Christian and Jewish communities.
Try harder

@takataka_land イスラム教の方は多文化否定していますよね。それを何で受け入れなければならないのかわからないですね。相手が、受け入れないのであれば無理ですよね。こちらが妥協することですか?お互いをリスペクトしてはじめて言える事ですよね。

@PpIepP4z3EDB5vx @takataka_land Actually Islam, like all faiths, isn’t a monolith. Do Indonesia, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, Albania, or the many Islamic-majority Russian federal administrations deny multiculturalism?

@PrettyVacantJap What an absolutely iconic video though. They pulled off both concepts, and a magic door in history was opened
Reminded me of the Runaways

@SebastienneL Damn. I thought I found a kindred spirit for a moment, so I was enjoying scrolling through your reposts. But nah. Just more panic and obsession with Islam. Carry on then….best of luck with that

@deceptionh6176 @historyinmemes Imagine him reading that and being like “tf? I thought I did pretty well but ok then”

Sergei Eisenstein posing with a giant cactus in Mexico around 1930..
Sergei Eisenstein (1898–1948) was a pioneering Soviet filmmaker and theorist, renowned for developing the concept of montage—a revolutionary editing technique that emphasized the collision of images to generate emotional and intellectual impact. His early works, like Strike (1925) and Battleship Potemkin (1925), reshaped cinematic storytelling.
Eisenstein’s influence extended beyond Soviet cinema, inspiring filmmakers worldwide with his innovative visual style and political engagement. Despite facing censorship and political pressures, he continued creating ambitious projects, including Alexander Nevsky (1938) and Ivan the Terrible (1944–46), leaving a lasting legacy in both film theory and cinematic artistry.

@DanielCaulder1 @historyinmemes Sure, if you don’t see juvenile fun as being compatible with art, you would tend to think that. Sorry
English

@historyinmemes I love all the responses speaking about what a great filmmaker he was, and how artistic this photo is ...do these people not realize he was just taking a d*ck pic with a giant cactus, it's not art (though I'm sure he may have been artsy), it was juvenile fun, nothing profound..
English

@StevenJosephR @historyinmemes Why did I imagine them to be running away from giant, phallus-shaped, Mexican cacti
English

@NFTartstudiomax @historyinmemes I find that completely understandable because whenever I find the rare English-language documentary on the Mexican landscape, geology or nature in general I’m always stunned. I kinda think that about *everywhere* tbh, but still. Every state is magic
English

I got interested and searched about it :
This photo was taken during the production of ¡Que viva México!, which is one of the biggest "what ifs" in cinema history. Eisenstein was so inspired by the Mexican landscape & the Day of the Dead that he completely reinvented his style, moving from "intellectual montage" to something much more sensual. But bcz of a falling out with his producers & pressure from Stalin, he had to leave the film behind. He died without ever seeing his Mexican masterpiece completed.
