A legitimate question in the Faculty Council @ugent_fge @ugent tonight: do we have an opinion on the use of X, given the current political constellation with an owner of this platform @elonmusk getting a position in the Trump administration? 🧵

Great advancement for patients and physicians! #ctDNA results will now seamlessly integrate into electronic medical records, streamlining healthcare processes.🩸 Check out our illustration "ctDNA — Dawn of a New Era" designed for @pashtoonkasi 's groundbreaking research. 🔬 #DrawImpacts #science #sciart #ctDNA #scicomm

🆕As of April 2024, our liquid biopsy #ctDNA results🔢show up directly in the electronic medical record of a patient just like any other routine lab. This is a huge step for our patients and all physicians to be able to see these results realtime/easy access.🙌🏾 #LiquidBiopsies

@michaelmina_lab Why are we still discussing this? What is so difficult about first using a test that is fast and inexpensive? Is it ignorance or are some incentivized to say otherwise?

Such a bad interpretation that stands to harm patient care Let's not throw the baby out w the bathwater for COVID-19 (and flu etc)! Suggesting to only run PCR & not rapid means most (50%-80%) of patients get WORSE care & at higher costs Here's why: A 🧵 1/

High-risk patients with #COVID symptoms should use PCR rather than rapid tests, study suggests The sensitivity of rapid tests was 47%, compared with RT-PCR and 80% versus viral culture. cidrap.umn.edu/covid-19/high-…

I’m constantly reviewing papers where Gapdh is used as a housekeeping gene, including in bone marrow & adipose tissues. It’s TERRIBLE for these because it increases in adipogenesis. Please use other genes (& several of them, eg genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…)
Prof. Nikolai Slavov@slavov_n

A reminder that the abundance of 'house keeping' proteins varies significantly across cells and tissues. GAPDH (glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) is often slandered a 'house keeping' protein, and its abundance varies significantly across human tissues.

“We have to think about what we not see!” Plato-wisdom by @jptosar. RNA-seq patterns can be very biased and not necessarily reflect the in vivo extracellular RNA situation.

I was thinking that maybe I can do a giveaway every year, sending a science-relevant book to a couple of lucky winners. Last year, I did "Lessons from Plants", by Dr @BerondaM (see next tweet). Any ideas of what book I could do this year? Maybe one of these? Thoughts? Thanks!
