I make things. Usually with computers. Love Tampa, tech, music, golf, whiskey and boats.

It’s last minute but if anyone would like to join us at Belleair on Monday we have had several last minute cancelations. We were full and now we have spots. I promise- it’s amazing! #GolfHistory

I think you can build almost any product in 12 weeks. But few people have the discipline to actually do it, sadly. Some of the tricks I've learned that drastically speed time to MVP: sourcetoad.com/how-to-build-a…

Sharing music with other people who have a different streaming service is a surprisingly annoying thing to do.

@paulg now, that 18-24mo might be you learning to program and launching little projects, but somehow you have to learn and understand how products get made to build a startup effectively

@paulg I have what I jokingly call the "Davis 1st Law of Tech Entrepreneurship" which is that you should have 18-24mo direct experience working in tech before starting a tech company. Fact is, you need a feel for how tech gets delivered to build a thing that delivers it.

I'm skeptical when people tell me they're very determined to make their startup succeed, but they can't find a technical cofounder. If you're determined, you can learn to program.

This is a shitty experience because it doesn't acknowledge the user's journey and goals at ALL. Think about how your touchpoints and communications unfold over time. Does the narrative feel like something you'd expect in a human conversation, or like this, just cheap mktg?

Instructure decides, instead, to send you this ridiculous shit. Thanking you for jumping into the marketing funnel they forced on you, and telling you how to manage your subscription preferences. Tone deaf, to say the least.

Let's talk about some shitty UX, courtesy of @Instructure! So, Instructure has a leadgen form on their website, so you can schedule a call/demo whatever. Standard stuff. However, at the bottom of that form is this little peculiar checkbox:

"AI won't be able to do that" rhymes a lot with "digital music is too easy to copy, it won't work"

What do I make of this? I run a paid weather app. Over the weekend, the same person created 3 subscriptions. I emailed them and asked if that was accidental, and offered to cancel/refund. This morning I wake up and they've created 3 more. All successful payments. Some use a slightly different email. Some use different payment methods. My first thought? A bug in my app after a successful payment. They're thinking it didn't go through and trying again. I checked their info in my backend, and everything looks good. Checked what I could in analytics and nothing seems up. Plus other people pay fine. What's an explanation for this?

@aubreygoodman and what's more, is we're going to be at the broadband stage much more quickly than I think people realize.

Robots mining water ice and helium-3 on Luna in our lifetime wasn’t the singularity I expected, but I’m here for it! On this scale I’d put space robot miners at about 56kbps. Conveniently the same throughput we’ll have to talk to them.

If you’re old enough, think back to the late 90s and your 9800 baud modem, maybe 28.8 if you’re lucky. Now think about your lightning fast wifi at home today (wireless too!) We’re at the 9800 baud stage of AI, if we’re even that far. Buckle up.

The important phrase here is "platform transition". If you think the web in 5-10 years is going to look like it does today (and by that I mean, using browsers to go to websites/apps as the primary way of using it), I'd rethink that assumption.
Ben Bajarin@BenBajarin

The exact quote from Jensen on stage at @microsoft Ignite. "Well, Generative to the AI is the single most significant platform transition in computing history. You and I both have been in the computer industry a long time. In the last 40 years, nothing has been this big. It's bigger than PC, it's bigger than mobile, it's going to be bigger than internet, and surely by far. This is also the largest tam expansion of the computer industry in history."
