Pat Ryan of @LiffeyMills speaking to @farmersjournal. For pig farmers like us we rely on deliveries of grain every single day. @rochesfeeds and @CrecoraMills have both spoken out today about supply issues. Our trucks have been unable to access Foynes Port, a place we go to each and every single day - that means we don’t have feed to give to our animals. It’s a serious animal welfare issue #tonightvmtv

From the @farmersjournal 20/08/23. The tillage industry (& others) are greatly disappointed and angered by the recent pause of the straw incorporation scheme. I hope we don’t see wet swarths of straw in fields next November: unbaled, unchopped, unwanted…..

🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Aldi has reduced the cost of 170 seasonal products as consumers begin preparations for the festive season. Rooster potatoes, sprouts and carrots have also plummeted in price, with reductions of up to 75pc introduced in stores." independent.ie/business/irish….

@think_or_swim @bobbymiller73 @BrianGentles2 @irishexaminer The bottom line is unless you have constant demand for the electricity you produce it doesn’t pay. Non domestic rates are only a small fraction of domestic rates. A farmer or business with a medium size system on a roof should be on a different rate than a large scale solar farm

@bobbymiller73 @BrianGentles2 @irishexaminer Worth running the numbers Bobby. You probably don’t have big on-farm electricity usage so exporting to the grid is worthwhile if you get a decent feed-in tariff. I think energy independence/resilience is hugely underrated & will become a massive issue in years ahead.

Spot on @SiobhWalsh1 : Ill conceived, over simplistic pollution policy causing damage to existing farming sectors while increasing the demand for imported grains. It’s even questionable as to whether it will improve water quality. Silly silly silly…..
