A customer ghosted us on a $30k order. Vanished for 3 weeks. Turned out our quote landed in spam and the follow-up email looked automated, so he ignored it. We closed it the day someone just called him. Your CRM is not a salesperson. A human is.

I have some weird urge of building a Finder alternative 🤔 It is probably the worst idea if you want to make a living out it but I feel it will be fun Please, give me reasons not to do it 🙏

Curious question for software engineers - do you miss coding? The actual act of writing code itself, the creativity of it? Or does the new joy of building faster replaces it fully?

Run testing and calibrating one of my new product releases - GreaseBot Mini. This is an additional product to my legacy line that are typically used in automotive facilities on hundreds or thousands of robots. The larger 6-axis GP600 units will grease all 6 axis of an industrial robot simultaneously, we can fully grease an R2000 in 35 minutes vs almost 4-5 hours traditionally with hand or pneumatic pumps. The larger units pump from 55gal drums, while the smaller mini and GB200 units pump from 5gal buckets. We also monitor pressures and displacement almost eliminating blown seals, robot models are recipe driven through a PLC with HMI. This new GB Mini is aimed at SME's and service outlets, will grease 2x axis simultaneously and has all of the same features (displacement and pressure monitoring) as the larger legacy units. Here I am calibrating the unit on an R2000 unit on my floor. GreaseBots are used by GM, Ford, Tesla, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Chrysler, CocaCola, 3M, Toyota, among many others. I patented the technology and still build these on the side today. greasebots.com

Just launched on thepartitionpros.com The Instant Partition Build Configurator + Self Checkout. Technology is our competitive edge I keep trying to build better end user experiences to make it easier and easier to get prices and buy custom products without having to call/email a sales rep and wait on them to do the manual pricing. This allows us to sell cheaper, faster, and better.

This office costs us $600 a month. The GMB location and calls it generates are worth way more.

“Just raise your prices” is lazy advice. If your service is slow, your follow-up is sloppy, and your customer can’t easily buy. raising prices just makes people resent paying more for the same friction. Fix the experience first. Then the price holds.

Prepping for the shower floor install and just realized the client wanted it the other direction. Good thing we didn’t set it yesterday. 😅 Measure twice. Ask three times. Set once & you’ll be good. Day 6 of this large bathroom remodel. This is going to look awesome when we get finished.

My great uncle, who loved cooking and engineering and traveling and far too many other things, always used to say: "Among the cooks, I am the best engineer, and among the engineers I am the best cook." I love that. It's one of the things I try to live by.

@realEstateTrent The HOA horror stories continue. One of my big flexes is my HOA-less neighborhood. Also, an 80's house we purchased 8 years ago. I need to send my realtor some flowers.. When I was 22, I didn't know what I was looking for, but they did.

I submitted plans to install radiant heating in my floors. It’s a technology that’s been around for almost 100 years. An angry neighbor sent a letter to all the residents, warning them that the new owner on the 15th floor was about to flood the building. Welcome to HOA.
StripMallGuy@realEstateTrent

How can a Homeowners Association possibly be qualified to manage a $100,000,000 real estate asset? Reality is, getting involved with my HOA was one of the stupidest decisions I’ve ever made, and the entire HOA system needs to be completely overhauled from scratch. They especially can’t stand the real estate folks, and you make instant enemies for making an actual intelligent suggestion.

Sales get won and lost over the small details. Let me give you some examples from my experience. My current work boots were chosen because the sales rep knew they had a double insole. I tried them on, and they fit well, but it wasn't until she removed one layer of insole that they fit great (more room), and that knowledge made us make the decision on the spot. However, in my business, a customer wanted HDPE Solid Plastic shower stalls. We know they are standard 55" tall panels, so we quoted the customer for 72" tall panels. No one wants to look each other in the eyes while showering, (right?) We informed him that this comes at a large premium. But they insisted on partitions over curtains. We lost the bid to a competitor that quoted him the 55" tall panels only $200 cheaper, because they told him they can mount the doors lower or higher to their desired height. We know this, but my sales rep didn't give them that option, so we lost the sale. The customer would've saved about 1k+ if they ordered the 55" panels with us. It was a lose-lose for our business and the customer. I don't try to push sales, I try to push solutions and benefits.
