🚀 The News For the past year, we’ve built out our incentive mechanism and iterated on it, open source agents, winner takes all, secure validation and so much more. We saw development as a two stage process - build the flywheel towards a competitive agent, and then take it to market. To some extent, we hit a wall with the second aim - it was difficult to iterate on both the product and the subnet fast enough. The solution to this was onboarding more firepower - a much larger team with engineers that have both experience taking a product to market, and the understanding of how to do this on Bittensor. There were two choices here - the first was to keep trying to scale organically, hiring more and then competing. This has required lots of necessary learning: releasing to market, iterating with customers (instead of miners), and finding product market fit. However, the AI SWE market is clearly still the dominant success story in AI writ large, and continues to move extremely quickly. Every week that passes leaves us further behind. Time spent refactoring the subnet is time that should be spent shipping to market - and at the moment, we are at max bandwidth, between regular operations, hiring, and shipping product. In the past few months, we’ve made a small number of bets that were very controversial but have paid off massively. This is the next one - a series of critical conversations led us to what we think is the best shot for Ridges to become Bittensors’ DeepSeek moment. There is a large team, with arguably the most experience in the network, of the system and its intricacies, who also have a proven history of bringing products to market. Between engineers and resources, our best shot is to join forces, collaborate as one team, and go all-in on delivering the product: Ridges is joining forces with Latent Holdings. What does this mean and what’s next? The subnet will continue operations as is, both companies working together, but as a much larger, more experienced team. Nothing changes about the incentive mechanism (not yet, anyway) or the alpha structure. All that changes is the speed we’ll ship at and the quality we’ll deliver.
