Keep your eyes on the prize folks. It's always about "victory conditions". Tactics and operations are just a means to an end. If you don't have a clear strategic goal in mind you're very unlikely to achieve it. And that's happened to us in multiple conflicts since the end of WW2.
Michael Shurkin@MichaelShurkin

Thing is, I've long suspected both the Israeli and American militaries of confusing tactical and operational success with strategic success. They are overly impressed by their ability to do what they're doing, think, hey, it's going really well, and conclude they are winning.

@bob_gunton @Noirchick1 Not pre code but one of my favorite movies ever! Hayes Code started around 1932-3 whereas Arsenic and Old Lace came out 1945ish (held back for a year or so). Enjoy the rewatch! Not hard to find her. She’s the romantic lead for Cary Grant and in his first scene

@Noirchick1 'ARSENIC' etc. is one of my favorite comedies from Pre-Code. I don't actually remember Ms Lane from the film -- but I'm sure as heck gonna go back and find her!

@jasminericegirl But also, it’s really hard to remember this, in the throes of a million intense thoughts, ADHD is your super power. All the super heroes have to grapple with their abilities. But it’s really advantageous when you can learn to harness it instead of just fighting it. Never ends tho

Casper innovated by selling a product online that was previously only bought in stores. We've seen many companies do this successfully over the past decade: Shoes -> Zappos Cars -> Carvana But Casper just couldn't figure out how to make the economics work.

Some Twitter thoughts: 1. Elon Musk owns the company and has the right to do what he wants with it (within the law). If he wants to come up with flimsy pretexts to suspend critics, he can do that. There's not much point to examining the rationale he uses to backfill his whims.

(It’s an interesting problem too! And doesn’t fall along traditional argumentative ‘sides’) We’ve never engineered anything to last 10,000’s of years. Even if it works, how do we prevent our descendants from f’ing it up when they may not even understand our language?

@qwrrty @MuseZack @Pythagasaurus3 Watch a Kubrick film. Or PTA. Those tracking shots (in either). Or some of Welles’s work. Hitchcock felt the movie was perfect when the script was finished and filming ruined it.

A bad thing that often happens in Hollywood is that a director, showrunner, or entire company will have a chaotic, dysfunctional production that somehow results in a good finished product...& then draw the conclusion that the dysfunction was somehow responsible for the goodness.
