You buy a "smart" motion sensor. You set up detection zones. You tweak sensitivity. And it still triggers on your cat at 3am. The problem isn't the sensor hardware, it's that rules based configuration can't capture the specifics of YOUR space. Every room has its own quirks: reflections, airflow, pets, shadows. A trained model can learn those quirks. That's what makes a sensor actually smart, not more settings, but genuine understanding of its environment. What if anyone was able to train a model to solve that?

Hypothesis: All of these companies replacing SaaS products with their own tooling are just taking the scenic route to admitting they never needed any of those products in the first place and certainly won’t stick with maintaining it.

When the story is written for humanity there will have been an extremely brief period of time where specialized coders had access to strange syntax knowledge that not all of the rest of humanity had. It will be a curious wrinkle in an otherwise steady march toward progress. Remember the good times you had being alive for that.

I'll be kind of honest, it sorta sucks that everyone can barf code now. I'll get used to it, but it was nice to have a skill people couldn't easily reproduce in the worst way possible. I'm sure I have something valuable to offer, but code isn't it anymore.

Cursor is still crushing it for me. Every time I try to leave I come back a day later. Also, I can swap to the latest best model while everyone else is frustrated with their only option getting nerfed
