Shaq walked away from a reported $40 million contract extension with Reebok. Instead, he partnered with Walmart to create an affordable sneaker line simply called “Shaq.” To make sure the shoes still looked and felt premium, he brought in former Reebok designers to help engineer the collection. Priced around $20, the “Shaq” sneakers became a massive success. To date, more than 400 million pairs have been sold worldwide. Shaq could have kept cashing huge checks for luxury sneakers.
