Massive dredging, artificial island-building, and illegal fishing have already wiped out thousands of hectares of coral reefs in the West Philippine Sea.The 2016 PCA ruling confirmed China’s large-scale ecological damage—burying reefs under concrete, depleting fish stocks, and harvesting giant clams by crushing corals. Now, China conveniently shifts blame to the Philippines to distract from its own environmental crimes. No amount of propaganda can erase the devastation China has caused. The world sees who the real threat to the marine ecosystem is.
