2024 Artesia-Roswell Game History The Artesia-Roswell game is the oldest football rivalry in New Mexico. This will be at least the 126th game played since 1909. The two teams have played every year except 1937 and 1940. Only three of those games have been playoff games. Artesia and Roswell have played 30 games at Bulldog Bowl with Artesia having a 22-8-0 record against the Coyotes. 14 of those games were district matches with the Bulldogs record being 12-2-0 against Roswell. The two Coyote district wins were in 1973 and 2000. Roswell has not won any game at Bulldog Bowl since 2000. The Bulldogs and Coyotes have been in the same district the last 24 seasons, the Bulldogs have a 19-4 district record and a 2-1 playoff record against the Coyotes. The two teams faced off for the first time in a State Championship game last year with the Bulldogs winning 35-21. Artesia is currently ranked #1 and Roswell is ranked #2 in both 5A football polls. Roswell is 5-1 with wins over Alamogordo (41-14), Hobbs (37-35 OT), Deming (51-20), Santa Teresa (47-0) and Gadsden (48-7), there loss was to Lovington (35-21). Artesia is 5-2 after losing to Hobbs (44-40), Centennial (70-39) and defeating Carlsbad (44-7), Deming (64-27), Gadsden (57-34), Lovington (57-21) and Santa Teresa (57-0). The Bulldogs are averaging 51 pts/game while the Coyotes are averaging 41 pts/game. Before 1950, the Bulldogs won only five games against the Coyotes, but have won 46 games since 1950. (1909-1949) Artesia 5 wins, 42 losses, 1 tie; (1950-2023) Artesia 46 wins, 31 losses. Overall Record Artesia: 51 wins, 73 losses, 1 tie
