@kaibosworth Both really good points. Facebook dovetailed with the blogosphere productively for a time. I left it around when they made that algorithm change.

@KaiHeron oh, and Facebook changing its algorithm to hide links and group discussions. it's crazy to think back on how lively Facebook discussion was up through maybe like 2016. dead zone now.

I've been thinking recently about how much I miss the blogging culture shared among some Marxists and critical theorists in the late 2000s/2010s. Maybe I'm nostalgic, but as a reader I experienced that time as a period of amazing conceptual and political creation. 1/7

Again, I know this sounds deeply nostalgic, but I'm less interested in going back to that period than I am in finding a way through this one to a new kind of collective of theory construction and political practice that is adequate to our moment, whatever that moment may be. 7/7

There's no doubt social media (this platform especially) has had its effect on the form thought takes. Even on sites that closely approximate the blog - say Substack - we are largely treated to 'takes' that we use to triangulate or construct our own. 6/7
