The word "text" has the root meaning of weaving, as in "textile." When we write, we weave--past, present. and future; formal and informal; story and argument; mixing genres and even media. Nothing is ever one thing.

I don’t think teaching will ever be a research-based profession. Classrooms are just too complex for research to tell teachers what to do. Teachers need to know about research, perhaps it’s better for teachers and school leaders to be reflective consumers of research. Thoughts?
