إنّ ما تعرّض له غبطة البطريرك الماروني الكاردينال مار بشارة بطرس الراعي من حملة إساءة وتطاول مرفوضٌ ومدانٌ بأشدّ العبارات، ولا يمكن القبول به تحت أي ظرف، لما يمثّله من مساسٍ خطير بالمقامات الروحية والوطنية التي تُجسّد رمز وحدة اللبنانيين وكرامتهم. إنّ البطريرك الراعي هو مرجعية وطنية جامعة، والتعرّض له لا يطال شخصه فحسب، بل يمسّ كرامة الوطن وقيمه وثوابته، ويشكّل اعتداءً على روح العيش المشترك التي يقوم عليها لبنان. وإزاء هذه الحادثة، نؤكد تضامننا الكامل والمطلق معه، ونستنكر بشدّة هذا الانحدار في الخطاب العام، داعين إلى الالتزام بأعلى درجات المسؤولية والأخلاق الوطنية في مقاربة الشأن العام. كما نطالب الجهات المعنية بمحاسبة الفاعلين واتخاذ الإجراءات الحازمة والرادعة لمنع تكرار مثل هذه التجاوزات، ونشدّد على ضرورة احترام الرموز الدينية والوطنية وصون الخطاب العام من أي إساءة أو تحريض، حفاظاً على وحدة الوطن واستقراره.
