A new bill has been tabled in parliament seeks to have NYS graduates replace private security guards at government institutions.
The motion, sponsored by Kilifi Woman Rep Gertrude Mbeyu, argues that the government spends billions of shillings annually on private security contracts and that deploying NYS graduates would be a cheaper alternative
Elsewhere, Private security companies warned that the move poses an existential threat to an industry employing up to 1.5 million guards. A good bill.

A man came to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and said: "O Messenger of God, tell me of a deed which, if I do it, I will enter Paradise." The prophet replied: "Worship God and do not associate anything with Him, establish the prescribed prayer, pay the obligatory charity (zakat) and observe fast (in the month of) Ramadan." The man then said: "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! I shall never do anything more than that or any less." When he turned to leave, the Prophet said: "Whoever would like to see a man from the people of Paradise, let him look at this man." Sahih Muslim

@ShitpostRock Admittedly, I was at first dumb enough to think he actually meant hanging out with UN diplomats 🤣🤣
However, even after he clarified that he meant a party with young women “under age 25”, I still chose working on rockets and cars.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has suffered a major setback after the Supreme Court dismissed his application seeking to halt impeachment proceedings ongoing at the High Court.
In a unanimous ruling delivered on Friday, January 30, a five-judge bench led by Chief Justice Martha Koome held that the Supreme Court can only issue stay orders on matters before the Court of Appeal, not the High Court.
The judges ruled that Gachagua’s request fell outside the court’s jurisdiction, allowing the High Court case to proceed.
The apex court also dismissed a separate application seeking to strike out documents and a cross-appeal, noting that the issues raised were central to determining the appeal on merit.

@sholard_mancity You guys forget that even governors command police in kenya, Gachagua have bigger enemies than Ruto in mt kenya, he would be crippled without even Ruto being aware, he keeps on making enemies everyday by abusing mt kenya leaders, it's the war of mountain now.

I’ve been following what happened in Othaya during the church service attended by Rigathi Gachagua. Let’s talk calmly, not emotionally.
History is clear: a government doesn’t deploy force where it feels secure. Weak challenges are ignored. Strong ones are confronted. The repeated teargas and police presence in Othaya show something important: Rigathi is resonating with people in a way the state finds uncomfortable.
That’s not a sign of weakness on his part; it’s a sign of anxiety and fear on theirs.
Stable governments rely on legitimacy, not intimidation. They trust public support to neutralize dissent on its own. Very few figures today attract this level of sustained attention. That difference matters.
Power reacts most aggressively not to noise, but to resonance, not to shouting, but to connection. Not to elites, but to those who reach ordinary citizens and disrupt the sense that everything is under control. Rigathi is one of those few voices.
When debate touches rising taxes, unpopular levies, and the real cost of living, food, fuel, school fees, discomfort within the state becomes visible, especially after Rigathi said if he became president, he'd remove sha & housing levy. That’s usually when persuasion gives way to force.
Force may silence temporarily, but it rarely resolves the underlying issue. More coercion often confirms the challenge is real. What we’re seeing may not be confidence, but insecurity. Not dominance, but uncertainty.
A reminder for those who hold power: fear accelerates exits. Legitimacy slows them. History has never been kind to those who confuse force with strength.
