@Cameron08268608 @bubble_email @LundukeJournal He's too unqualified for his job to understand the constitutional problems with the legislation and too egotistical to know when he's beaten. His privacy raping law was particularly egregious for a liberal judge to take exception to it (U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman).

The leadership of Rocky Linux, which was created as a replacement for CentOS, has made the weirdest statement regarding Age Verification: “Effective immediately, all Rocky Linux packaging will include a "Fun For All Ages" sticker.” With a link to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” This statement was made on April 1st. rockylinux.org/news/rocky-lin…

@bubble_email @LundukeJournal Sucks to be you. Texas's age verification law has already been blocked by their own courts and will fail on appeal. California's law is just as constitutionally infirm and will almost certainly be tossed. Too bad EU doesn't have any privacy/expression protections to leverage.

@RobertBentley76 @AdamKinzinger look to the word of G-d: "When the LORD thy G-d shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee … thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them".

@bubble_email @LundukeJournal your point is moot, though because systemd doesn't actually have any age verification functionality implemented. It simply has a birthdate field that is read only and can only be set by root. It is as optional as entering a full name and address for users.

@bubble_email @LundukeJournal so? an age attestation free systemd fork was made weeks ago: not to mention that systemd is modular - any distro can disable or remove "features". There's no reason that Rocky can't use systemd AND be free of age attestation.

@Jonnyboy2100 @LundukeJournal Good luck with that. Parrot OS isn't your typical distro, It is purpose driven and fills a niche that has few other players. Kali likely won't cave so it would be suicide for Parrot to do so. Parrot is already behind in the pentesting distro game.

The developers of Parrot OS (a Linux distribution focused on security & hacking) have made the following statement regarding Age Verification laws: "Parrot Security will not proactively implement any Age Verification features. We will do absolutely nothing to accommodate these restrictions until we are legally forced to do so. Should a day come when legislative pressure leaves us no choice, our solution will be designed to satisfy the “letter of the law”, while remaining intentionally porous and easily bypassed by the user." parrotsec.org/blog/2026-04-0…

@C_Dgolf @LundukeJournal Ultra red Texas is pushing a similar law. Theirs goes even further: they don't just expect age attestation - they want it to be verified via government issued ID. This isn't an 80/20 issue: it's bipartisan government overreach under the guise of "protect the children".

CachyOS, a “Performance-First Linux, Built on Arch”, has made a rather peculiar statement in regard to possible Age Verification in their Linux distro. The CachyOS stance appears to be that they are “not doing anything” about Age Verification… but if you disagree with Age Verification you should “find another distribution”. At the same time, anti-Age Verification posts have been officially declared “radical” and will result in censorship and banning from CachyOS. The statement: “CachyOS is not located in areas where this is a thing CachyOS is not doing anything in regards to this CachyOS uses SystemD
If you don’t want to use SystemD find another distribution STOP asking about these two things
STOP attacking people about these two things
STOP being radical about these two things” The CachyOS developer has been actively deleting posts where people ask about, or express opinions against, Age Verification. “If I personally see radical postings relating to these two things I won’t bother to just waste time removing the post I will remove you, you are not contributing anything of use here” Even simple, non abrasive questions, such as “Is CachyOS going to implement Age Verification” are getting locked and censored. discuss.cachyos.org/t/age-verifica…

“Liberated systemd” is a systemd fork which removes the recently added Age Verification supporting functionality. This is exactly how Open Source is supposed to work. Don’t like the direction a project is going? Fork it! github.com/Jeffrey-Sardin…

@Ready_Set__Go @ishowcybersec That doesn't mean the release didn't exist. Windows 8 is in the list - even though It was disavowed in favor of 8.1 because 8 was trash. MSFT went so far as to offer 8.1 as a free update to 8 to encourage migration away from it. 8 was at least as broken as ME - maybe more so.

@unclebobmartin Literally, it means to kill one out of every ten (from the Roman punishment called "decimation"). Modern meaning is to destroy a large portion of a thing or to cause great loss.
