Do you know that in Arabic, there are 12 levels of friendship. In life, we have different kinds of friends who has different levels. And rare are those who have these 12 levels of friendship in one person. These levels are: 1. 𝙕𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙡 (زميل) - someone you have a nodding acquaintance with. 2. 𝙅𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙨 (جليس) - someone you're comfortable sitting with for a period of time. 3. 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙧 (سمير) - you have good conversation with them. 4. 𝙉𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙢 (نديم) - a drinking companion (just tea) that you might call when you're free. 5. 𝙎𝙖𝙝𝙞𝙗 (صاحب) - someone who's concerned for your well-being. 6. 𝙍𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙦 (رفيق) - someone you can depend upon. 7. 𝙎𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙦 (صديق) - a true friend; someone who doesn't befriend you for an ulterior motive. 8. 𝙆𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙡 (خليل) - an intimate friend; someone whose presence makes you happy. 9. 𝘼𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙨 (أنيس) - someone with whom you're really comfortable and familiar with. 10. 𝙉𝙖𝙟𝙞𝙮𝙮 (نجي) - a confidant; someone you trust deeply. 11. 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙞𝙮𝙮 (صفي) - your best friend; someone you've chosen over other friends. 12. 𝙌𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 (قرين) - someone who's inseparable from you; you know how they think (and vice versa). If you have such friends, hold onto them.

@ZunairaInam @itsokaybis This is even true in the west … a female executive with a plumber for husband once told how she had to miss work when their kid had a fever because the plumber said “he couldn’t let his boss down”

@itsokaybis This is so infuriating. Women dealing with "family emergencies" is what allows men to continue their lives normally. Whether it's related to children/in-laws health, home maintenance and staff issues. Whose career is perceived to able to afford a day off? Obviously the woman's.

@hopelesslystoic I wish it was but it's literally just my mom. Weird stuff happens to her all the time. She was once partially kidnapped by an elephant. The woman is a walking story prompt.

My mom just sent someone on a side quest Her folks forgot their phone before going on vacay. So she went to the train station, found a woman going to Copenhagen, and gave her the phone with the instruction: "When you get to CPH give this phone to a woman who looks just like me"

Just a quick data point for burger aficionados. The OPTP smashed beef burger is very decent. Great price point too comparatively

This day in 1812 Spencer Perceval became the only Prime Minister to be assassinated. It's the LEAST interesting thing about him. With his frenemy James Stephen he engineered one of the first bans on slavery in British territory. And he did it WITHOUT parliamentary approval /1 🧵
