In a 210 chase, Shardul and Bhagat have played more balls than QDK, Naman, Hardik Pandya, Rutherford and Malewar combined. Tells you everything that’s wrong with this #MumbaiIndians side. #IPL2026 #MIvsCSK

Tells you all that is wrong with this franchise when Surya plays as impact sub. As the ICT Captain he had to be on the field for inputs. But Mumbai Indians has now been reduced to a side where everyone’s individual egos are trumping the desire to win. #IPL2026 #MumbaiIndians

@joybhattacharj Just simple logic is enough, these justifications are by no means explaining anything at all. Also, technically, the probability of a dot ball and a scoring ball in t20s is not the same. Secondly, Kuldeep's t20 SR is 70+, so more likely than not he would have gotten that run.

If you take a single, you eliminate the possibility of a regular time loss. So then it's a 50% chance to go to a super over, and a 50% chance that you win. And if it goes to a super over, then there is again a 50% chance you could win. So if you take a single there is 25% chance of losing after a super over and a 75% chance of winning either outright or after the super over. Now if you do not take the single, there is a 33.33% chance you win, 33.33% chance you go to a super over, and a 33% chance you lose. If you add the odds of the super over, it is a pure 50-50 chance. Granted, this does not bring the skill of the batter into the picture and that of the non-striker and their current form. But if you played the odds, the single was the most logical choice.

There’s no debate there. No matter who the batter at the other end, at 2 of 2, the single is on 100%. Even if Miller had hit a 4/6 of the last ball, not taking the single would still have been a stupid decision.
Harsha Bhogle@bhogleharsha

The debate will rage on. With 2 to get from 2, should you take the single that ensures there is at least a super over? Or should you back yourself to get a boundary off the last ball? Or at worst, a single? It is easy now that we know what happened but I think the single was on

T20 cricket still largely is a 170-180 game. The odd outliers will happen on either side, but nothing has changed over the last year to indicate that slogging every ball is the way to win games. Tilak, SKY hold the key if India are to make a deep run. #T20WorldCup2026 #IndvsSA
