With calls to ban kirpans & rising hate towards Sikhs, there’s growing concern about where this could lead.
As Muslims, we know how quickly this kind of rhetoric can spiral & the serious consequences it can have.
It’s important we look out for & protect the Sikh community. 🫶🏽

I have my own 'ugly' Indian tourist story.
It was way back in 2005, on the island of Langkawi, in the days when travel agents booked hotels for you, and threw in a 'half-day tour'.
The local guide-cum-driver picked us up from our hotel and then made a stop at another to pick up two other couples.
As soon as they got into the car, they asked the guide where they could get good Indian food.
"Your food is very bad," they added, making the man visibly stiffen. "We want vegetarian Indian food."
The guide maintained a civil facade and promised to drop them at a popular Indian restaurant on the way back from our Island-hopping trip.
Our first stop was at a beach, where our Indian co-passengers sighted a hawker selling rojak.
"What is this?" one of them asked.
"It is cut fruits, sir," the rojak seller said.
"Fruit chaat lag raha hai," said another. "Try karte hain."
This gave us immense, albeit cheap, pleasure – and we smirked quietly to ourselves.
Because rojak, we knew, contained shrimp paste.

I'm afraid @virsanghvi is bang on the money on this one. In my infrequent visits abroad, I have literally wished at times that the floor splits into two and I vanish.
Arriving late and demanding breakfast, smuggling muffins wrapped in napkins, boorish behaviour on public transport, complete lack of self-awareness. So on and so forth.

@RUniverseOrg Because many Muslims are nominally Muslim. They don't hate Non-Muslims and don't aspire to a global Islamic state. They ignore the worst aspects of Islam and remain Muslim out of loyalty to their families and not any real conviction about the truth of Islam.

@AslanPahariii It may make sense for Pakistan to claim the IVC some time in the future if Islam is demphasized or becomes a more diluted version of itself. But currently its like having your cake and eating it too. You can't honour and cliam history and culture that you consider mushrik/evil.

The oldest IVC site is Bhirrana. The largest IVC settlement is Rakhigarhi. Both are in Haryana, India. India also has more IVC sites than Pakistan. We have greater cultural continuity with the IVC in terms of jewelry, and religious symbols such as the Swastika, Pashupati seal. If heritage is the argument, modern India and Hindus has a far stronger claim to the Indus Valley Civilization than Pakistan.

I don’t care what religion you are. NOBODY other than law enforcement will get to carry deadly weapons under a Reform government. Reform will repeal the exemption for Sikhs to carry the kirpan. We will deploy stop and search and get deadly weapons off our streets.
