Unpopular opinion: Akshaye Khanna’s performance in #Dhurandhar is being mildly overrated! Yes, while watching #Dhurandhar again on Netflix, I am finding how grossly everyone started hyping his performance as one of the greatest ever. In fact, even we posted about how much of a GOAT performance it was !! But I feel sometimes it is repeat viewing after the initial euphoria that decides the real things, and to be honest, there are many scenes where I didn’t like #AkshayeKhanna much !! Not saying he was not good, in fact he was very good, but nowhere near what social media displayed. He’s restrained, controlled and all, but that doesn’t automatically equate to depth. He relied too much on his typical one-note expression and silent presence which, truth be told, didn’t hurt but didn’t elevate a scene either. The scene where they were celebrating the Bombay attack in #Dhurandhar, his limited emotional modulation came to the fore and his bit felt flat, unlike Arjun Rampal's !! Finally, I feel the writing and BGM score did a lot of the heavy lifting to make the character seem more impactful than the performance itself. Not at all saying it’s bad, just that it wasn’t the masterclass people are calling it. Just a decent performance in a very good setup 💥🙏🏻 So yeah, sometimes opinions change over time after the hype settles. And I have a mad mad respect for #AdityaDhar for directing the film like this !!
