@kaspth I was about to subscribe to your last online event, but It was in the middle of my chemo therapy.

I'm finishing this year with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I'm 2.5 months into treatment. I was out of the clinic for two weeks until I return this week for my next round of chemotherapy.

@kaspth @jeremysmithco yes, this works ✅ f.text_field :name, on input: 'this.form.requestSubmit()' but apparently not in the stimulus context - I've just tried

👻I rarely get feedback on my work, so I reuse feedback others get 1) @kaspth gave @jeremysmithco the idea of Cmd+Enter for submitting comments 2) Here's how I implemented it in SupeRails/comments a moment ago:

@yarotheslav @jeremysmithco Huh, I've been handrolling some onchange: "this.form.requestSubmit()" on inputs recently and that worked. I'm surprised, but I guess I'd need to dig in further.

@kaspth @jeremysmithco that doesn't work with stimulus either 👇this does, but looks ugly: const form = this.element.closest('form'); if (form) { form.requestSubmit(); }

Three months ago, I made a commitment to @bjessbrown that I would launch an MVP of liminal.forum, my own take on old-school forums, by November 1st. And today's the day! 😅 I'm happy to announce the doors are open. Full announcement is here: liminal.forum/liminal/topics…

Maybe we should all just be testing our seed task to make it sure it does _something_? I see seeds get out of date all the time and they frequently don't even run, leaving the next onboarding dev to discover it... gist.github.com/nateberkopec/4…

I'm still learning on the go and tweaking, but it's starting to be a senior fast track. I've still got 2 slots available, by the way.

We also frequently dive into Rails' source and gem code to help demystify reading advanced code so team members can grow themselves more rapidly.

This is exactly what I'm doing with my office hours for teams service. Each team gets a private weekly 2-hour Zoom session, where we debug *actual* issues and I give my takes on growing your skills and writing better Rails/Ruby. It's AMA all the way.

If you're a junior dev and you aren't working directly alongside a senior with ~10+ years experience, you need to switch gigs or start working on OSS. It's easy to stop growing w/no one to push you, no one to teach you every day, to show you what's possible.
