✅نوشته‌ای از یک دوستم در ایران: نمی‌دانم امروز دقیقاً گرایش فکری‌ام چیست؟ اما خوب می‌دانم چرا دیگر چپ یا جمهوری‌خواه نیستم؟ سال‌ها در جهانی زندگی کردم که در آن گمان می‌کردیم ماموریتی داریم: نجات دادن انسان‌ها؛ با این تصور که ما حقیقتی را فهمیده‌ایم که دیگران از آن بی‌خبرند. در آن جهان‌بینی، زندگی بیشتر میدان اصلاح دیگران بود تا تجربه کردن خود زندگی. امروز که به عقب نگاه می‌کنم، می‌بینم شاید در این میان از چیزی ساده اما بنیادی غافل ماندم: زندگی فرصتی است که تنها یک‌بار به ما داده می‌شود. ما آن را صرف توضیح دادن به دیگران کردیم که چگونه باید زندگی کنند، در حالی که خود کمتر فرصت کردیم زندگی را همان‌گونه که هست تجربه کنیم. اکنون بیش از هر زمان دیگری احساس می‌کنم معنای زندگی الزماً در هدایت دیگران یا تغییر جهان نیست. گاهی در چیزهای بسیار ساده‌تر پیدا می‌شود: لحظه‌ای آرام کنار دوستان، خنده‌ای بی‌دلیل، رقصی بی‌تکلف، و خاطره‌هایی که با آدم‌ها ساخته می‌شود. شاید خطای ما این بود که خود را در جایگاه منجی می‌دیدیم و ناآگاهانه با نگاهی از بالا به اطرافیانمان می‌نگریستیم؛ گویی آنان نیازمند هدایت ما هستند. اما امروز تردیدی در دلم هست: شاید بسیاری از همان آدم‌های عادی، بی‌آنگه نظریه‌ای درباره جهان داشته باشند، زندگی را از ما بهتر فهمیده بودند. و، اما بدنش پر از زخم است. حالا حال و روزم شبیه سربازی است که جنگ برایش تمام شده. جنگ، دیروز شده، ولی سوزش این زخم‌ها چیزی نیست که به این زودی‌ها از یاد برود؛ زخمی که شاید تا آخر عمر با او بماند.
