Celebrating women in tech at KATDICT! Today we celebrate Halima Muhammad Shema! She studied BSc Geography at Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina. She has been working with Katdict for about 2 years as a graphic designer and content creator. In this role, she creates visual designs and content that support the organization's language and learning initiatives, helping communicate ideas clearly to the community. Her journey into tech began with a passion for creativity and storytelling. She developed an interest in how design and technology can be used to share knowledge, simplify learning, and make information more accessible. Joining Katdict gave her the opportunity to combine creativity with technology while contributing to something meaningful for communities especially in Northern Nigeria. I hopes my journey will encourage more young women to explore opportunities in tech and believe that their creativity and ideas can make a real impact ~ Halima Shema

At KATDICT, she began her tech journey with UI/UX design and later transitioned into content creation, where she contributes to digital storytelling and communication. Driven by the belief that technology is transforming how people learn, connect, and access opportunities, she is passionate about building meaningful digital solutions. Nigerians spend about ₦20.87 billion daily on internet data subscriptions. It is clear connectivity is no longer a luxury, it’s a core economic utility, just like electricity. Infrastructure investment directly affects household finances & productivity. What this means is states that lower data costs unlock growth, jobs, and digital GDP.

4/7 In line with the work done by @9aufal, at @katdict, Programs can be fleeting, but structure is forever, build the structure, make sure it stands even when you are not there anymore! We changed the very law of the land to protect the dreamers, the builders, not just the usual conversations, by passing the Bill in to Law, and that sits Katsina as the First Sub-national Government to achieve that, and we are seeing the impact of that. We are building the architecture of hope, brick by digital brick.
